The body of an unidentified female has been exhumed at the Thabong Phumlani cemetery in Welkom. This follows a search for the missing 30-year-old Disebo Portia Mosupa who has been reported missing by her family.
According to an initial police report, Mosupa – an acting Youth Development Officer at Matjhabeng Local Municipality, had been declared missing after her father visited her place of residence on July 14.
When he arrived there, all the doors to her house were locked.
Her father returned to the house the following day and upon further investigation discovered that the doors were open and the house was ransacked.

Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele on Friday said a man has since been taken in for questioning in order to see if he can assist in the case.
The identity of the dead body is yet to be confirmed.
The police still seek information concerning two unsolved murders that happened in Welkom in 2023.
The body of a man was found in the Welkom industrial area in 2023. He had sustained several stab wounds to his chest.
The deceased was later identified as Tankiso Petrus Nhlapo from Odendaalsrus. He was last seen by his family on Saturday, 3 June 2023, after closing the shop in Odendaalsrus with his mother.
His body was discovered on 6 June 2023 at about 07:40 in the field in front of number 48 on 11th Street in the industrial area of Welkom.
