Drie mans sal Vrydag (7/6) voor die Welkomse landdroshof verskyn op aanklagte vir die beweerde oortreding van die Diamantwet 56 van 1986.
“In ’n suksesvolle operasie uitgevoer deur die Valke, is drie mans tussen die ouderdomme van 40 en 55 in hegtenis geneem vir onwettige handel in diamante,” sê Zweli Mohobeledi, Valke-woordvoerder.
Hy sê die operasie is begin nadat die Valke ’n wenk ontvang het oor ’n diamantsmokkelnetwerk waarby die verdagte glo betrokke is. Deur met misdaadintelligensie saam te werk, kon die Valke die inligting inspan vir ’n suksesvolle optrede.

Die bedryf dra dus by tot die ekonomie deur buitelandse valuta te verdien, werk te skep en belasting te betaal.
